Fire Department Projects:

FIRE HYDRANT PROJECT

This project entails clearing of obstructions such as grass, weeds, and shrubs and painting the fire hydrants. Project will be discussed with the Fire Marshal prior to commencement. Examples of materials that will be required to perform this project are (this list is not all-inclusive):

  • sand paper
  • wire brushes
  • paint brushes
  • trash bags
  • plastic sheet
  • paint thinner
  • masking tape
  • red paint (paint code will be specified by the Fire Marshal)
  • and any other tools or materials needed to accomplish the project objectives.

PAINTING ADDRESS NUMBERS ON CURBS IN FRONT OF HOUSES

This project entails painting white rectangles with black numbers on curbs in front of buildings (residential and commercial) to assist with their address identification during emergency response by fire, ambulance, and law enforcement units. Examples of materials that will be needed to perform this project are (this list is not all-inclusive):

  • wire brushes
  • trash bags
  • plastic sheet
  • paint thinner
  • masking tape
  • white and black paint (paint code will be specified by the Fire Marshal)
  • cardstock or cardboard stencils
  • and any other tools or materials needed to accomplish the project objectives.

LEADING A RESIDENTIAL SMOKE DETECTOR INSTALLATION EVENT

This project entails leading a group of individuals to perform community outreach, communicating directly with the public, and installation of smoke alarms in Ammon. Project will be discussed in more detail with the Fire Marshal prior to commencement. The materials that will be required to perform this project are largely provided by the American Red Cross.

Firefighters with the Ammon Fire Department will assist during the installation phase of this project. The Fire Department also uses fire engines and trucks to mobilize the installation teams to show that this is a Fire Department endorsed program. Please contact the Fire Marshal at 208-612-4060.

Note: In general, this project is a March/April/May project due to the commitments throughout the rest of the year for the Fire Department, including emergency response and intensive training schedules.

  • Planting shrubs and flowers in the new planting beds at the plaza at McCowin Park in May.
  • Preparing ball diamonds.
  • Relocating McCowin Park soccer field.
  • Repairing baseball diamond fences.
  • Painting the large shelter at McCowin Park.
